5 Reasons to take a Mental Break! || women's mental health awareness
It's hard. Well... hard is actually an understatement. It is EXTREMELY difficult to keep a positive mindset day and night. Ladies, I know that I am not the only one who seems to be overwhelmed by so many things in my life. Yes, we must struggle through it, but we don't always have to keep fighting through it, trying to tough it out... take a break
Taking a break comes in many different forms and this is also a way to show your mind, body and soul self care and self love. We need to be mentally strong enough to know when we are drowning and need to show ourselves some extra love.
Are you overstressed? Feeling overwhelmed from work, studies, relationships...? This is a tell-tale sign to take a break away from work or the other things/people that are stressing you out. If possible take off work for a day. Take the time to breathe, relax and focus on you and your health
You're becoming frustrated way too often. It happens and as women it's important to know that our feelings are VALID. However, when your frustration and anger tends to start spreading negativity in your life and also in other lives around you, it's time to take a break and give yourself some space. Watch a movie, or your favorite show. Get some comfort food and ditch SOCIAL MEDIA. No, you don't need to go check your feed, your social media feed is fine, put the phone down and focus on you.
You're finding that you don't have time for the small, basic things. This could be taking a nice long shower, doing your full hair and body routine, meditating, cooking and/or meal prepping healthy meals for you... the list goes on. Being busy makes us feel like we're running out of time, or more so like we're racing against time to get things done. In doing this, we start neglecting ourselves which isn't healthy at all. Take back your time and your happiness. This is a gentle reminder that our time is the most precious investment in our lives and once it's spent, we can NEVER EVER get it back.
You're feeling sad. It is understandable. Depression is one of the main mental issues in the world to this day and with all the crazy things going on, it's not hard to understand why. We all start to feel depressed at some point in our lives... it's normal. Feel your emotions, don't ignore them. Express how you need to, cry if you have to, but at the end of the day, remember to get back up again. This is the perfect time to be alone with you and your thoughts. Reflect, express, and focus on the things that are causing you to feel at a low point. Then start to spend your time thinking about how you can make it better. If being around a special person or people will help with this healing process then go right ahead. Use the people in your lives to help give you smiles and laughter. We all need a dose of that. But the most important thing is that when you feel like you're breaking, drowning or just being buried underneath all of the heavy emotion, give yourself a break and stop trying to juggle 100 things at once. Juggle and handle yourself first. Juggle your thoughts, your feelings, your emotions, your weaknesses, your strengths, etc... Once you've got it balanced again, then it's time to go back and conquer your dreams.
Just because. We don't have to have a "reason" to take a break. You shouldn't have to be broken, crawling, and barely breathing before you feel like you should probably take a break now... take a break even on the good days. It's good for your body, mind and soul. Give your body the love and care it needs to grow and flourish. Don't be ashamed to say that you need a break either. We're women, yes. And that is one of our superpowers, yes. But taking breaks to give us more strength is something that we need to do on a regular basis. You can have all the dreams and visions in the world, but if your body and mind are not in good condition, you will have a very hard time getting there.
Take. A. Break.
Much love, see you all next week.
